BLISTERING WOODFIRED OVEN
HOW HEAVY ARE THE OVENS?
The Large Oven is only 70 kilos which means it can be lifted easily by three adults, and can be put away for the winter months if not being used. It’s light weight also means it can be turned on its side to fit through a standard doorway. The XL Oven is 150kgs and can be lifted by four adults.
WHERE ARE THE OVENS MADE?
They are made here in the UK by Blistering using pioneering ideas and materials in the endeavour to keep the oven as light and efficient as possible.
ARE THERE ONLY 4 COLOURS AVAILABLE?
We stock four colours but can customize your oven to any colour you like. Please call the office for a price.
DOES THE OVEN REQUIRE ASSEMBLY BEFORE USE?
No, the oven is ready to go. We recommend a small three hour cure not getting the oven hotter than 100c using only kindling to start off with before you light your first big fire.
WHAT SHOULD I PLACE THE OVEN ON?
We recommend a sturdy plinth made of wood as featured on our site or place the oven on a sturdy table. Just remember the base gets very hot and always raise the oven off the surface with for example terracotta tiles.
DOES THE OVEN NEED TO BE COVERED?
The oven can take a good dose of rain in the short term, but long term we recommend our waterproof cover (see woodfired oven accessories), especially over the winter months to avoid any frost damage.
WHAT TYPE OF FIRE STARTERS AND LOGS SHOULD I USE?
Please watch the video on this web site which gives you all the advice you need. We recommend www.woofwoodfuel.co.uk for kiln driedlogs, Flamers and for Solo Mio Italian Pizza Logs
HOW DO I LIGHT THE OVEN AND HOW MANY LOGS DO I NEED TO USE?
Please go here for step by step instructions but remember, the better the dried kindling and logs used, the less smoke and higher heat temperatures will be achieved quicker. Due to the modern materials used, the ovens are incredibly efficient and will reach 280/320c within 25 minutes. The ovens burn a minimum of wood during their stoking and cooking period. If in doubt, always put smaller pieces of wood to increase the temperature.
WILL THE OVEN TAKE LONGER TO HEAT UP IN COLD, WINTERY CONDITIONS?
Unlike kiln heated terracotta ovens mostly sold in the UK, the Blistering oven will not be effected by colder external temperatures and will heat up almost as quickly.
HOW DO I CLEAN THE STAINLESS STEEL FRONT?
Brasso or ‘Bar Keepers Friend’ available from Lakeland.
